🙏 The Legend of Pathar Sahib

According to ancient legend, when Guru Nanak Dev Ji was traveling through Ladakh during his journey to Tibet, he chose this quiet valley by the Indus River to meditate. At that time, a demon living nearby was troubling the villagers and decided to harm the Guru. The demon rolled down a huge boulder (pathar) from the hilltop to crush him.

But as the rock came close, it miraculously turned soft like wax and gently molded itself around the Guru’s body — leaving an imprint of his back. The demon, seeing this divine power, realized his mistake and begged for forgiveness. Guru Nanak blessed him and taught him to walk the path of kindness and peace.

Even today, visitors can see the sacred rock (Pathar Sahib) inside the Gurudwara, with the impression of Guru Nanak’s body perfectly preserved — a living testimony to this miracle.
